HISTORICAL RECORDSÂ & EVENTFUL MOMENTS
FROM OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS& EVENTFUL MOMENTS
In 1969, amid increasing social problems within the Malay/Muslim community and motivated by the injunction of Islam's prophets to help others, six young men, including Mr Mohammed, met to see how they could help the young in the community. They decided on an education, specifically a programme rooted in Islam that also taught secular subjects and lessons in character, strength and resilience building.
The vehicle for this? An organisation: Islamic Theological Association of Singapore (Persatuan Taman Pengajian Islam Singapura), or more commonly called... Pertapis.
