Welcome!

At PERTAPIS we engage in self-help projects for the betterment of the community's welfare in Singapore.

As an approved charitable organization with the status of an Institution of Public Character (IPC), we aim to reach out and help the community in line with our vision: "The Best we can be in the Service to the Community"

The PERTAPIS Halfway House was launched in 1989 as the first Malay Muslim Halfway House in Singapore with objectives to provide treatment and rehabilitative services to substance abusers to enable them to reintegrate into society. During the preceding years, residents referred to the halfway house were all drug abusers from drug rehabilitation centres (DRC) and are placed in the halfway house to undergo a fixed period of rehabilitation. Lately, this have changed, the halfway house receive residents under the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) to undergo a 6 month of a 9 month programme. The Prisons Department has also extended the halfway house programme to prisoners who were drug related and lately to synthetic drug abusers.

Our Programmes

At PERTAPIS Halfway House, we based our programme on the Therapeutic Community (TC) concept, originated from America but adapted to meet the racial, cultural and values of the local community. This social model utilizes the community as the primary therapeutic vehicle to foster behavioral and attitudinal changes.

The programme incorporates the family milieu, peer pressure, therapy, spirituality and role modeling. It also provides 3 aftercare services, namely 12 steps meeting (Narcotic Anonymous), cluster support groups and family support / social gathering.

Apart from adopting the TC model, we have included the Life Skills Enhancing Scheme into the existing programme such as barbering and printing of banners.

Our Appeal

We need volunteers to help and be part of our programmes such as Family Support Group, Vocational Training and many others. Alternatively, you may wish to volunteer in organising and / or joining in excursions for our residents.

We also need help from donors and sponsors to sustain the operational cost of our programmes, maintenance of the infrastructure and support services we provided. Therefore we appeal to you once again for donations, no matter how small, to allow us continue to fulfill all aspects of our services to the residents in need.
