We
are an approved Home and a place of safety under the Children and Young
Persons Act. The current Home was opened on 22nd April 1993 and is able
to accommodate up to 100 children, aged from 4 to 16 years old.
Our Vision
We aspire to nurture and develop our children to be responsible adults .
Our Mission
To
provide a loving and wholesome home for the emotional, social,
physical, educational and spiritual development of the children who
have been separated from their families so as to enable them to grow to
their full potentials. |
 |
Our Home Programme
We
adopt the CARE Programme, a developmental programme for
school-going children that trains and develop the
residents' motor, literacy, coping and study skills, as well as
develop awareness towards social and religious obligation. In addition
to this programme, every resident attends tuition and religious
programme
 |
Parent As Partners
A
major effort of the Home is to facilitate the emotional bonding between
parent and child for the eventual return of the children to their
former home. Workshops and seminars for the parents are also conducted
to equip the parents with the relevant parenting and communication
skills. |
WHY ARE WE AT PCH?
Beyond Parental Control - under the Children and Young Persons Act.
Because I am below 16 years old and my parent is unable to control
me. My parent complained to the Juvenile Court that I did not return
home for many days, I mixed with friends that taught me bad things,
like smoking and I did many things that are morally incorrect. The
Court accepted my parent's complaint and I was ordered by the court to
be in this Home for 2 years. |
 |
Care and Protection - under the Children and Young Persons Act.
Because my teacher saw many black & blue marks and wounds
on my body. I was then sent to the hospital and I was placed in this
Home. I am very sad because I do not want to leave my home but that
lady from MCYS (a friend in this home told me) took me here. I am
scared. I am only 8 years old. My parents will be angry with me and
they will beat me again.
Compassionate Ground - under Voluntary Admission
Because my teacher from the family service centre brought me here since
both my parents are not able to take care of me. My mother and father
are in jail.

PCH Family Core Values!
The 'CARE' core values act as a platform in which PCH's staff operates and manages the residents.
To be Captivated in the way a child behaves and reacts,
staff of PCH will then be encouraged to understand & learn more
about the child, as well as have the patience and passion to work with
the child.
To also be Adaptable to Changes is essential in such a dynamic environment, in which children grow and develop.
|
The ability to be Resourceful in dealing with problems is also an essential trait for the purpose of nurturing and developing the children under our care.
Being able to exercise Empathy with the children
will lead to understanding the children's emotions, deal with them
positively and inevitably, teach them the right values to help them
grow into a responsible adult.
We can't do it alone!
We need your help to ensure success in implementing our CARE Programme and achieving our vision.
We need your help:
- To sponsor a child so that he/she can go back to school,
- To sponsor our tuition programme,
-
To conduct enrichment classes like speech and drama, building
self-esteem, motivational talks, soccer, games, leadership camp, moral
and spiritual development etc,
- To teach arts and crafts,
- To participate in our befriender programme,
- To help organize visits, tours, competitions etc,
- To help in our general maintenance and repair.
