Who We Are

An Approved Home and an Approved School under the Children and Young Persons Act. An Approved Institution under the Probation of Offenders Act. A Place of Safety under the Women's Charter. We help youth in need of help between the ages of twelve and below twenty-one.

To provide quality rehabilitative services to women and girls in danger of moral collapse, supporting them in maximizing their potential for independent living in a safe environment so as to enable them achieve personal development.

Who are our clients

  • Girls between the ages of 12 and below 21 who are Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • Girls who are victims of emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
  • Girls who are beyond parental control with problems in school and mixing with undesirable peers.
  • Young female offenders.
  • Girls who are in moral danger or exploited by adults.
  • Pregant teenagers

Admissions

The Juvenile Court refers girls who are under sixteen years of age and who are beyond parental control or in need of care and protection.

The Family and Child Protection Branch of MCYS refers girls who are in moral danger and need a place of safety.

Voluntary admission after assessment by the Administrator of the Home and approved by the Pertapis Management Committee.

Facilities

We have three spacious dormitories with attached bathroom. We also have a library, an IT room, a multi-purpose hall, kitchen, dining area, compound for sporting activities etc

The Staff

Our team of professional and dedicated staff provides a nurturing and learning environment so that the residents become responsible individuals. We believe that the young residents in our care are building blocks of tomorrow's society and today's family.

Home Programme

Educational Programme is the main programme of the Centre which include ¡®The Back to school Programme¡¯ and ¡®In-house Tuition Programme.¡¯ Our Programme also focus on life skills acquisition. It deals with the specific risks and needs of the young residents. They include Conflict Resolution through peer mediation, Health and Wellness Programme, Creative Arts, Home Economics, ARENA (Programme for Anger Management), "It's My Life - Sexuality Programme", Smoking Cessation Programme, Positive Parenting Programme and other enrichment programmes. As part of our in-house programmes, we also celebrate major events including National Day and Hari Raya, etc. All our residents attend full time study at a mainstream schools. They are required to comply with the home rules and regulations. The length of residency varies according to individual's commitment.

Parents as Partners

Parents and families, including guardians and caregivers, play the most vital role in the rehabilitation of the girl or young person. Parents must be committed to visit the child every week to reestablish the relationship and emotional bonding that was lost. Our staffs are willing to have regular dialogues with the parents to discuss issues pertaining to the resident's stay in the Centre. We hold regular activities for the parents to help them develop positive relationship with the child/ward and to acquire positive parenting skills. The parents are allowed weekly visits. They are encouraged to participate in the parenting seminars, family conferences and counseling sessions.
